Siberian Husky is a sled dog by nature, trained to obey and love the owner. It has a wolf like appearance, with thick soft fur, basically due to its northern location. They can be very tender and affectionate dogs, playful with children. Being aggressive is not in their nature; therefore they are much safer for families to adopt. A Siberian husky desires to have companionship of either humans or dogs.

However, if you are interested in adopting a Siberian husky, it is advisable to take few important things into consideration. Here are few of those things for your understanding.

Adapting to House Rules

Once you adopt your husky and introduce it to your home, there are few rules that should be made clear to it. Take your dog around the house and show it around, show its living quarters. An adult husky usually has developed senses of littering, but in case of puppies, male sure to guide them properly in every step and take them outside every few hours to relieve them. With puppies there may also be the factor of them chewing on various things, including furniture, so it is better to firmly tell them off each time and provide substitutes such as old socks or other toys to chew on.

Behavior

There is a major difference in the behavior of puppies and adult huskies. A puppy like any child is a cute adorable destruction machine. They have yet to develop senses and awareness of their environment. It is important to point out that though it is difficult to train a puppy, it is no way near impossible. An adult Siberian husky on the other hand is usually aware of the certain limitations, living with humans require and it also has a more attention span.

Personality

Personality of Husky is quite distinctive. It is a temperamental dog that requires a certain amount of attention and love, along with a firm owner. It is intelligent and clever and can easily understand the rules and requirements of living with a family. Its friendly personality makes it an excellent choice to adopt with families with children.

Being clever and independent in nature, the husky needs the owner to be determined and commanding in order for it to look up to the owner. It means you have to be extremely careful when training your dog. One important factor to keep in mind is to not let the dog have complete freedom. It is very hard to trust a Siberian husky without a leash. It is prone to wander off in search of something new to do, or simply escape into the open to explore. It is safer to keep your dog on a leash, until at least it trusts you.
